And I’m ready for the weekend…

Hey blog fans! For this installment I thought I would do my first get ready with me post and explain how I go from daytime drab to party ready!

You’ll be getting a few of these over the coming weeks as July and August are proving to be very busy months with birthdays, weddings & parties galore, so I’m sorry if these begin to get old, but I’ll try to keep my make up and outfit looks fresh and different to keep you all entertained (and somewhere along the line I’ll try to get my camera up and running for a tutorial too!

So last weekend was a big one! It was my friend’s 30th birthday party so everyone was going all out on their hair, make up and outfits. Now, although this blog is called Lifestyle for Less I, like everyone else, have splurged on a couple of products which I reserve for special occasions, so I did bust out a couple of these to create this look, but don’t worry, I did also combine them with some of my frugal faves too and, of course, all these products can be substituted for others if you’re trying this out at home. As well as this, I realise this is quite early on in my blog to be putting a get ready with me post together as I haven’t done any reviews yet, but my next few posts will be detailed reviews and I’ll start with the products used in this look!

So let’s get going…

This is me before going out with absolutely no make up on!!!

This is me before going out with absolutely no make up on!!!

The best place to begin any look, day or night, is with a good base, so a decent moisturiser and primer are essential! The products I used for this look were Garnier BB Cream Miracle Skin Perfector followed by the Seventeen Wow! Skin 3 Way Highlighter and Primer for an extra shimmer. After blending this on with my foundation brush (50p from Wilkinsons and one of the best I’ve used for blending liquids!) I apply a pea sized amount of my M.A.C Foundation in shade NC15 (which I bought duty free from the airport) and blend in until no lines can be seen and an even colour is achieved. Top tip: Make sure to blend this right up to behind your ears, down onto our neck and into your hairline so as not to achieve any unsightly marks!

The next step is my absolute favourite…contouring!!! If you haven’t tried this I would definitely advise to give it a go. To give it a try without breaking the bank you can purchase the two contour sets I use off of eBay for around £5 each (links below) and don’t let the cost fool you because both work really well and have a great selection of colours. On top of my M.A.C Studio Fix Foundation I begin by applying a lighter shade of the cream camouflage foundation under my eyes, in a triangle on my forehead and around the base of my nose and also above the centre of my upper lip (I think this is called the filtrum?!) I then take a colour at least 2 shades darker than my skin tone and apply on my lower cheeks, temples, nose, upper eyes, chin and jaw. Once this has all been applied, I take my Real Techniques blending brush and dab all of the colour in until completely blended. Now I know that the picture here looks pretty warrior stripes crazy but I promise the finished look is worth it!

20140726_173216Once you’re happy with your contour and the next step is to set all of your hard work with a powder. For this I used my Bare Skin Minerals loose powder (again from eBay) to set the cream and then followed this with a light brush of M.A.C Studio Fix powder in NC40 for some added colour. Once the foundation has been set I use my powder contour set to go over the areas where I applied the dark cream foundation with the darkest shade powder from the set. I do all of the powder contour, highlight and blush with my Real Techniques  brush (which I need to get another one of!) This should create a nice look which slims the face and nose, as well as creating the illusion of higher cheekbones. To further accentuate this I add a powder highlighter on the top of the nose and on top of the cheekbones (again Bare Skin Minerals) and blend before applying my Rimmel London Lasting Finish Blush in Pink Rose in between the two areas of contour and highlight. To finish it all off and to make sure the look is completely night time ready I use my Bourjois Bronzing Powder on the top of my forehead, over the contour on the cheeks, chin and nose to add a tanned glow!

Phew! The fa20140726_174610ce and base of the look is finally complete and now it’s time for the finishing touches and the part which really can make your look pop – the eyes! For this party I wanted a super vampy look with extra dark eyes paired with a bright red lip and big big hair. To achieve this, I started by applying my Benefit cream as my eye shadow primer, covering all of the socket and up onto the brow bone. On top of this I used my favourite ever eyeshadow palette Naked 2 by Urban Decay. This is definitely worth spending on as it’s so versatile for day or night and the colours have real staying power, but as ever, save up your loyalty card
points or wait for promotional offers for this as eventhough it’s good, at £37 at full price it’s pretty costly (but of course I didn’t pay full price for mine!) Using the small brush which comes with the set I smoothed Chopper all over the lids and20140729_201531 just onto the socket bone, before using the same brush with Pistol on the mid to outside and just below Chopper in to the socket. To create the super dark look which I wanted I then used Blackout on the outer edge of the eye and all along the socket as well as under the eye on the outside corner. To really add to this dramatic look I used my black kohl eyeliner on the upper and lower waterline, added some Collection 2000 Black Gel Eyeliner into a winged effect followed by a slick of Seventeen Blow Out mascara before perfecting the look with 110 Eyelure false eyelashes.

After using heated rollers on my hair and a bit of a cheeky back comb voila I was ready to go and here is the finished look…

Reading this all back it’ sounds like such a long and complicated process, but it actually took longer to write this post about how to achieve this than it did to actually do it! If this looks like something you’d like to do give it a go and if you do try it, share me your pics on Instagram as I’d love to see them as well as any other looks you love and would like me to try.

Don’t forget to like share and follow if you enjoyed this, Leanne xx

Beauty bargains from the weekend!

So I’m behind on my posts already, sorry! This weekend was so busy as it was my 4th anniversary and yesterday I just felt lazy, but I’m catching up by doing a post today and will be doing another one on Sunday all about gorgeous going out hair, make up and outfits for less (so stay posted for that!)

This post though is all about some of the amazing bargains I got this weekend from my local Boots, New Look sale and also possibly (in my opinion) the best anniversary pressie ever!!!!

The weekend was hectic, but my make up kit was running low on concealer so I made a quick trip to Boots to replenish (plus I love shopping so any excuse I guess). Now I know that Boots can be fairly expensive for a drugstore (more expensive than say Superdrug) but I love their rewards card system and always save up my points (which you get 4 to £1 I think!) for either something big to treat myself or to pay for Xmas pressies, so that is why I am a Boots addict and also a good bargain blogger tip if you haven’t already signed up for the Advantage Card or usually shop elsewhere. Even better than the points per pounds that you get is the vouchers… Boots constantly send me vouchers through the post and you can also pick up other coupons in store, which just keeps me coming back for more and often save you loads or make you money through points. And we all know points mean prizes people 🙂

Anyways, what started off as a quick pop into Boots for concealer ended up with a complete beauty haul and I walked away with 2 nail varnishes (one was half price thanks to a voucher from my colleague), several coloured eyeliners to try out some new looks (a la Shaanxo), a lighter eyebrow pencil with brush lid (which is now my all time new fave eyebrow pencil EVER) a lipstick, lipgloss and of course concealer. I will do reviews of all these products over the next few weeks, but some of these products have already replaced some old faithfuls and of course they all were a bargain. Please comment below if you’d like to see a haul vid with these products in as this could be a good place to start vlogging, wha d’ya think?

So aside from spending so much on more beauty basics, I also popped by the New Look sale.       Now I love New Look anyways because they almost always have stuff that I like and usually carry a good range of everyday essentials as well, plus their jeans as so flattering and fit amazingly,

but I’m loving them even more at the moment because this sale is amazing!! I picked up a scuba material shift dress, a black lace topped boxy top and a peach and grey boxy top for next to no money (less than £20 I think) AND all of them fit beautifully. It was so good I might have to go back with more time to have a proper browse!

Anyways the icing on the cake which was my weekend was receiving the most amazing pressie ever from my wonderful boyfriend Andy! He’s always been good at presents and especially loves to get practical gifts, but this time I think he has definitely outdone himself.

Best pressie ever?

Best pressie ever?

I’ve hyped this up so much that you’re all probably going to think I’m really sad to be so excited by this, BUT I looked everywhere for one that I liked and that was cheap but couldn’t find one anywhere, so when I opened this I was ecstatic (I’m also a keen organiser as well as being fashion and beauty and obsessed for those of you that don’t know) This organiser makes getting ready in the mornings so much easier than before when I was using a make up bag. Everything has it’s own draw (currently organised by eyes, lips and face) with essentials like brushes and foundations on the top and ready to go! It’s a really nice size and fits all my current products, but I’m already thinking of purchasing another one to stack on this one as well as a nail varnish top tray! If you want one you can find one similar at the link at the end of this post or just go to eBay and search for make up organiser 🙂 Even better though that the ones which are marketed as Kim Kardashian organisers retail at over £100 but you can pick one of these up for under £20 so grab them while you can!

If you enjoyed this post or any of my others please like, share and comment 🙂 If you have any suggestions for interesting posts as well then let me know!

Lots of love

My blogging inspirations

Hello again everyone,

As you may have seen elsewhere on my blog, I have been an avid blog subscriber and viewer for years, so I thought I would share with you some of my favourites! I hope this post helps you find other blogs/vlogs which may interest you, allows you to get to know me better and provides you with more inspiration to really pursue and embrace your passion, whatever that may be 🙂

Pros: I love this Youtube channel and blog! This is one of my long term faves and one of the first I ever found. It seriously never gets old or boring and always has me coming back for more. This blog and Youtube channel was one of my biggest drivers to set up my blog and I hope to be even half as successful as they are 🙂 The reasons I love this are that the reviews and tutorials are really in depth and varied, but are also very current often sampling looks from celebs at big events.

Cons: Sam and Nic who run the blog are both professional make up artists so sometimes it is hard to get the looks down at home 😦 Also they use really expensive products and have a much bigger variety of products than anyone I know, which can be super frustrating when you really want inspiration or to nail a new look! and

Health and fitness:

Blogilates Blogilates-Cassey-Ho-talks-fitness-and-healthy-eating

Pros: This is one of my favourite fitness channels! I love Cassey Ho who runs this blog because she has amazing energy and passion for what she does. Her page and site are colourful and super engaging and she actually makes working out fun. As well as this, there are a whole range of videos including exercise and cooking and the videos are all different lengths and varieties. I spend a lot of time reading this blog and working out along to the videos at home and even better there is an amazing app as well for fitspiration on the move 🙂

Cons: This blog is soooo good that you can spend a LOT of time on there! It’s a massive   distraction for me (this is a terrible con as it just shows how great I think this is, but I really cannot think of anything else!) and

Lifestyle & Fashion:

Patricia Bright

Pros: I found this channel fairly recently, but it’s fast become one of my faves! I love the layout of Patricia Bright’s blog because it looks so clean, modern and easy to navigate, but I also loveloveLOVE her style. She writes and speaks in a way which makes you feel like you know her so she is definitely worth checking out if you haven’t already. (Plus she has such an amazing, effortless style which I would love to be able to pull off!)

Cons: As much as I’m obsessed with Patricia’s style, sometimes the products that she uses can be pretty pricey! They’re all gorgeous, but I definitely cannot justify spending such large sums of money on individual items (especially items like make up which I go through so quickly!!!) and

Pros: Now I’m sure you’ve all heard of Zoella! She is the most adorable, kooky vlogger with a very cute style which I don’t think could be replicated easily (by me at least) who does lovely videos on fashion and style. Similar to Patricia Bright’s blog and videos she has a really laid back style of presenting which really draws me in.

zoellaCons: Again some of the products (not all!) which Zoella uses and reviews are quite expensive and this can sometimes make me feel a tad disconnected, especially because it can make it harder to try out the looks on yourself with different products.

So I’ve just gone into detail on a few of my absolute faves but there are also a few more below which I didnt have time to go in to!

Becca Rose – and

Shaanxo –

Boobs & Loubs –

Alejandra TV –

Anyways, I know this was a bit of a random post but I hope it helps you get a bit of a background into who I am and the kind of things I’m in to! I’m sure there are loads more blogs and Youtube channels which I’ve missed off this list, so if you can think of any that I haven’t mentioned that are worth checking out, then let me know in the comments as I am always looking for new inspiration 🙂

Let the blogging begin…

I finally did it, I finally created my lifestyle and beauty blog after many many months of deliberation!

The most important questions you are probably asking yourself right now is why did I start this blog and even more importantly why should you come back and keep reading, so here goes…

My name’s Leanne and I’m 22 years old. I recently bought a house with my long term boyfriend Andrew and we have 2 gorgeous Chorkie puppies. Aside from keeping a house, I love pretty much everything to do with beauty and fashion and am also a keen gym bunny and wannabe property developer/designer, which is why I thought I’d start this blog. For many years I’ve been reading and watching lifestyle vlogs and blogs (I’ll do a separate post on some of my faves soon!) and whilst I love them, I also feel slightly disconnected to them.

Anyone who knows me well will know that aside from the fact I go everywhere with a full face of make up on and love to experiment with hairstyles and fashions, I also love to save money and am never happier than when I pick up an absolute bargain! I’m addicted to eBay and Amazon and struggle to buy anything without searching for it online cheaper before committing to a purchase, but some of my blogging idols don’t seem to share my penchant for pinching the pennies!

If you love beauty, fashion, hair and home, or just want to learn more about being a 20-something growing up in an increasingly expensive and fashionable world, then look no further, because I am here and happy to help, so I hope you come back and keep reading 🙂
