10 in 10 series: Part 1. Losing 10% Body Fat in 10 weeks

Hey everyone,

Welcome to my latest post! This is a pretty special one as it’s the first in a new series I want to do over the next weeks and months about my fitness journey to lose 10% of my body fat in 10 weeks. Not only is this acting as my map of how I’m doing and where I’ve been on that journey, it’s also going to be a crutch for me and hopefully give me the support and drive I need to get to my end destination!

This time I want to write about a topic which has me all fired up, and not just because it’s January. I want to start off by saying that losing weight and (more importantly) inches isn’t just my New Years Resolution. I never really make them if I’m honest, I just give myself a little pep talk at the beginning of each year to remind myself to make the most of every day I get and to try to make every year better and more positive than the last. Anyway, I’m sure your blog feeds are full of posts like these as well as NY Detoxes and Christmas Hauls (I will be doing one of these soon!) but I’m going to try if I can to make this one a little different to the others.

Let’s start with some background! About this time one year ago I was approximately (I say approximate because I haven’t weighed myself in months) one stone heavier than I am now and a total of 10 inches larger. It all started when I saw a picture of myself that made me really unhappy and I decided that enough was enough. Now don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying that skinny is beautiful and that you have to look a certain way to be happy (check out my “do whatever makes you happy post” if you don’t believe me!) and I was never huge, but to me it was bigger than I had ever been before and I wanted to make a positive change to help me both with my confidence, health and mental outlook on life. Since then I have embarked on Slimming World which has progressed to a clean eating lifestyle change which works much better for me. As well as this I’ve been undertaking loads of new activities and exercises and after some time off over Christmas (which is absolutely essential every now and again) I have decided that this is the year where I reach my targets.

My goal is to lose 10 percent of my body fat in 10 weeks in a healthy and controlled way. But why 10 weeks I’m sure you are asking? Well for me, normally I have loads planned including parties, dinners and just general naughtiness which leads me away from where I want to be (I have literally no willpower!) but actually over the next 10 weeks aside from one New Years Eve Party and an awards ceremony at work I have nothing planned that should stop me reaching my goals. Come the middle of February everything starts getting crazy again so I want to do as much as I can now to really get me on my way for the remainder of the year!

Now I hate before and after shots and all that jazz, but I figured that for you guys I would film, photograph and document every step of my journey, including before during and after pictures in the hope that you will help me to reach my goals and basically be the willpower that I need to get me through the temptations and rough patches! I’ll use my blog as well as Instagram and Twitter to share all the key moments, meals and more with you all so make sure to follow me on all these different places to keep up with the latest!

My before picture (sorry about the quality!)

My before picture (sorry about the quality!) Starting body fat is just under 25%

Maybe we could take part together and motivate each other to get to our goals? I’d love to hear how you are getting on if you are planning on taking part in healthy living!

Anyway, after day one all is going pretty well! I’m back to adding all my food and drink to MyFitnessPal (even the naughty stuff!) and have been back to the gym and, as silly as it sounds, I always forget how good these simple changes make me feel 🙂 I’m sure I will slip and lose my way at some points, but that’s okay, I know that this year I’m more determined than ever to get where I want to be and even better it sets a realistic expectation to all of you aiming for the same goal 🙂

I hope you enjoyed this post! Please comment and get involved if you are looking to lose weight, tone up or just get healthier whether it’s your new years resolution or not! And don’t forget to share your top tips in the comments below as well 🙂

Lots of love, Leanne xx

Post Christmas Clear Out

Hey everyone, Merry Christmas!!

Hope you all had an amazing time with your friends and family and enjoyed every second as much as I did 🙂

There are so many plans I have for my blog over the next 12 months but for now I’m going with a simple post – all about getting organised after Christmas (mostly because I am in a bit of a food coma so can’t think too much right now!)

If you are anything like me then the aftermath of the festive season will leave you feeling all a bit stressed and anxious as your house becomes inundated with pressies and people galore, and trying to find room for it all (especially in a little house like mine) can be a tall order!

Today I have spent my time cleaning and organising (as well as stuffing my face with loads of leftovers) to try and get back to some normality which has involved clearing out loads of old stuff, finding homes for lots of new stuff and just generally tidying up a bit 🙂

Honestly, getting your house in order (literally in this case) has left my mind feeling much clearer than it was before and actually it was really simple!

My house before I got organised!

My house before I got organised!

I mean, despite opting in for e-billing for pretty much everything I still get loads of post, and so buying a shredder and getting rid of all the old paperwork was such a quick win. Immediately we had loads less clutter and more room for stuff we actually want! And if you’re reading this I assume you probably got loads of clothes and make up just like I did, so just taking the time to organise it all into however you store your products (I’ll be posting about how I store my huge haul of make up and beauty products soon!) makes such a big difference 🙂 Hanging away all my clothes also really helped especially with my wardrobe organising plan which I posted about a while ago and which is definitely one of the best organising tips I’ve implemented. Plus by organising it all away you actually remember every item which you got!

Anyway, this is probably a really boring post, but basically I just wanted to tell you all that if you are feeling stressed and anxious about finding the time to sort everything and to get back to some normality, take a deep breath and look at the bigger picture! You’re not the only one who is feeling that way and to be totally honest, pretty much everyone is in the same boat at the moment! Break it all down into chunks and do one bit a time, it makes it much more manageable and don’t forget to play some of your favourite tunes as you work to make everything more fun (as organising and cleaning can be totally boring!)

Failing all the above, do some exercise! I enjoy going for a walk in the fresh winter air and clearing my head a bit as it makes everything that you worry about seem completely irrelevant and not only that a good double benefit of the walk is that it’ll help burn off those Christmas calories!!

I hope you enjoyed this post or that you at least found it a little bit helpful to reassure you that you’re not alone if you are feeling a bit frazzled. Do any of you have any top tips for overcoming stress or anxiety? If you do I’d love to hear them in the comments below!

Also while you are here look out for the launch of my Youtube channel coming soon as well as my fitness and health series that I’ll be doing to help you beat the bulge (which I definitely need to do after massively overindulging) which will be coming in the next few weeks a long with a couple of surprises I have coming up for you all over the next few months 🙂 As always if you enjoyed this I would really appreciate if you could like, share, comment and follow my blog and for more on me don’t forget to follow me on Instagram @lifestyleforless and Twitter @lifestyle4less!

Lots of love, Leanne xx

It finally feels like Christmas! After a day of shopping, wrapping, parties, presents and finishing my decorating I finally feeling festive, and just in the nick of time too!

I’m normally so much more organised than I’ve been this year which has been stressing me out, but finally it’s all done and now I can just sit back and relax (kind of)!

Unfortunately I have a really bad infection in my wisdom tooth which is making me quite unwell, but other than that roll on Xmas day where I get to spend lots of time with the people I love giving and receiving gifts and eating way too much!

I’m going to try and do a post about preparing for Christmas and my Xmas pressie to myself before Christmas day, but if I don’t get around to it I hope you all have happy holidays and fantastic new years and that you get everything you wish for 🙂

Lots of love,  Leanne xx

Really late November Favourites!

Sorry again for the long time since I last posted, but this is a long one which I have been working on offline for a while so I hope you enjoy 🙂

So this blog fans, is my first ever (hopefully to become a monthly feature) favourites post! If you’ve never read one of these its exactly what it says in the title… All my favourite things from a given month and this month that of course means a reviews of my faves from November.

Now this won’t only feature items which I have purchased recently and may also contain old items and products which I’ve rediscovered but hopefully you’ll enjoy it just the same 🙂

The way I’ll lay this out each month is to choose one item from a variety of different categories including makeup, clothes and home (as well as much more) to hopefully give you a bit more insight into me and the things I love, as well as providing you with inspiration! Anyway, that’s enough of an intro so let’s get started…

So technically I’m cheating on this one already by picking two items, but they real really similar so I think I can just about get away with it! This month my item(s) of clothing are the gorgeous Brushed Mini Skirts I got from New Look recently. I love the first one I got so much that I had to go back and get another in a different colour and to be honest I’ll probably keep buying more!

These skirts are uber flattering, a lovely cut and finish and in their nice thick fabric are perfect for Autumn/Winter (plus they weren’t too expensive either!) Check out the New Look website here to see the whole range of these skirts as they stock them in so many different colour and patterns it’s unbelievable!

I love their nod to the sixties in the cut they just feel so girly yet with a professional twist and every time I’ve worn these I’ve had loads of people commenting on how nice they look!

The only downside is that they are really short (in true sixties style) and bearing in mind that I’m only 5ft that shows just how short they really are! However, I wear this as a high waisted skirt, so if you were taller you could wear this lower on the hips to combat this.

They are still available to pick up now so I’d advise you to get on over to New Look and pick one up as they are perfect for so many different occasions 🙂

This was such an easy pick! I’m completely obsessed with my mid height black Chelsea boots from Primark! I bought these in October (they are still on sale now and you can view them in my Boot post) and to tell the truth I’ve worn these at every given opportunity since I purchased them!

They are perfect to wear with both jeans and dresses/skirts and can be styled for most situations! I wear these to work, out for brunch with friends and family or just as a casual outfit to the shops 🙂

Obviously because they were from Primark they were an absolute bargain so if you’re looking for an ankle height pair of black boots this Winter then I would definitely recommend these as I have nothing bad to say about them!

In my opinion Winter is the season of accessories! From hats, scarves and stoles it’s my absolute favourite time to really style up a look with a few accessories which can be carried from year to year and really take a look to another level!

My personal favourite accessory of the moment has to be my Laura Shilton gloves which I picked up in TK Maxx. I bought these way back in summer as I really wanted a pair of driving gloves (yes, I confess that I use driving gloves all year around!) but very quickly these have turned into my winter gloves.

Although they aren’t very thick, because they are real leather they keep my hands really warm and they look so good in their cropped style! Again I’ve had so many compliments on them which is good because they are the most expensive gloves I’ve ever bought! TK Maxx had loads of different styles of gloves in store so take a trip down to check them out as you’ll pick yourself up a real bargain and get hold of a pretty unique looking pair of gloves, it’s definitely worth the investment 🙂

I know I keep talking about winter, but now the weather has well and truly turned arctic, it’s more important than ever to look after your hair (and skin)!

To keep my hair from getting dry I use the Schwarzkopf Got2b styling oil after washing and before styling. Whilst it feels fairly oily on your hands it coats the ends really well and cannot be seen once styled. I find that it definitely makes a hug difference to the condition of my hair even after just one use. Definitely add this to your winter must haves!

In a similar style to above, my face products are my Skin Therapy eye make-up remover, cleanser and toner. I honestly don’t have much to say about these other than that they are absolutely essential, especially a this time of year and that using these budget products really helps give your skin a boost and a glow 🙂

So I was going to write loads more, but it’s already the 17th December and I still haven’t posted this so I am going to be lazy and just abbreviate the rest of what I was going to write. I promise I’m going to try and get better at this soon 🙂

Anyway here are the rest:

House: Ikea TV Stand and organiser

Music: James Bay!! (love him – please check him out!)

Food: Not really food but I am obsessed with Costa Hot Chocolate at the moment!

TV/Movie: Orange Is The New Black – hurry up season 3

Shop: Almost always one of my faves, but really delivered in November so definitely New Look 🙂

Perfume: One I rediscovered again recently is Calvin Klein Euphoria such a beautiful every day smell

Sorry for the long post! These will be so much easier to do once I am on Youtube as all I will need to do here is a summary 🙂 Sorry also for the length of time it has taken me to find the time to put this together, I have been working on it in dribs and drabs for weeks, but finally it is as good as done! I hope you enjoyed this but please let me know in the comments below what else you’d like to see here 🙂 Also, let me know what your face things are at the moment so I can check them out for December!

Lots of love, Leanne xx
