Fashion feature: Embroidery

It’s been a while since I’ve written a fashion post and I’m loving being able to do this again. I see items and trends all the time that I love but then just never make time to write about them, but today I am making sure that I do.

And the trend we are focusing on today is the embroidery trend. It’s been around for a while, but seems to be getting bigger and better and is definitely the hot trend for Spring/Summer. From casual to evening and everything in between, there are pieces to suit every occasion and every body type and I want to go through some of my top embroidered picks from New Look.

e1

Embroidered Boots – with a low heel and a flattering cut above the ankle these boots are both stylish and practical. They can be worn by any body shape and would dress up any outfit in a flash. A sensible addition to any wardrobe and a bargain at under £35!

e5

Embroidered Skirt – Perfect for the transition from Winter to Spring, team with tights and above the knee boots for a dressed up but comfortable look. Even ideal for work!

e2

Embroidered T-shirt – Not sure how to dress up the comfiest of all your outfits, jeans and a tee? A statement slouchy cut-out tee with some embroidered features, is the perfect way to keep you looking stylish and effortlessly cool and a bargain at under £10.

e4

Embroidered Dress – Looking for an update to the classic LBD? Add embroidery of course! Combined with the mesh trend, this is a stunning yet simple addition to your wardrobe and can be dressed up with metallic heels and accessories or dressed down with tights and boots.

e6

Embroidered Jeans –  Another twist on the comfy outfit is the embroidered jeans. Wear with a plain slouchy t-shirt or a vest and your favourite skinny jeans are automatically updated ready for all seasons and occasions.

e3

Embroidered Jacket – Everyone should have a leather jacket in their wardrobe, but sometimes they can seem too harsh. Make it more feminine by picking up a leather jacket with embroidery to help make you stand out from the crowd.

Top tips though: remember not to combine your embroidered items. It may be tempting to wear your jeans, boots, tee and jacket together, but that would be overkill! Stick with one piece and make that your centrepiece.

Make sure to like, comment, share and subscribe! Please leave links or pics of your favourite embroidered items in the comments below 🙂

Workout Wear

So as well as not finding the time to write blog posts for you all, I also haven’t been finding the time to eat right or exercise and it’s left me feeling really self conscious and uncomfortable. I’m not afraid to share that I currently weigh more than I would like and have lost all tone due to not working out, but it’s not going to put me off. Sometimes when you feel this way it’s easy to get into a bad cycle of not wanting to do anything about it, but I am going to go the other way. It’s spurred me on to nip it in the bud and change my routines to make sure I’m making time for my health and happiness. And after signing up to charity row for Cancer Research next May, I’m going to need to be the fittest I’ve ever been! No time like the present after all…

One way that I motivate myself to go to the gym is to pick a super cute workout outfit. I’m a big fan of patterned leggings as they add some fun to what could otherwise be a very functional outfit. And I think they are flattering for all body types too! I have pretty muscly legs from years and years of gymnastics and yet I love the way they show off the good bits and hide the bad all whilst showing off my personality 🙂

I would always say that if you are going tight with the bottoms though,  that a loose top works best (which is also great for covering my tummy which I’m not such a big fan of) so I usually pick either a plain black tee of if I’m wearing plainer bottoms, then a nice bright colour again to match my personality and motivate me to train harder (although some days I do love a good monochrome outfit like the one below, which looks good to be dressed up if you have to pop into town first!)

Take a look at some of the outfits I love best that I already own, as well as some inspiration  and soon to be additions to my wardrobe from Adore Me’s new workout range! Adore Me’s new workout range! I mean how cute is the promo shot!!!

And when I get home from a workout, there is nothing I love better than a snuggly autumn outfit! Autumnal clothes can be oversized and sometimes shapeless, but that is no need to feel frumpy. A cute choker necklace, statement shoes and a bold lip always help bring a femininity back to an oversize outfit and cute undies also help to help put a feminine spring back in your step!

Stay tuned to find out how I style myself when I want to be comfy and cute in Autumn very soon!

Review: Orva Co-Ord from Luxemme

Hey everyone, I’m sorry that I am only getting to post once a week at the moment but I promise that I am trying to up it again!

Today I wanted to write about a new and emerging brand I was so lucky to work with in 2015, and which was my first ever blog collaboration! Luckily for me, I’ve been continuing to work with them to promote their brand and because of this was also lucky enough to be sent some of their amazing vouchers (which I will also be giving away on my Instagram keep reading to find out more!)

Now after my amazing co-ord which I was sent back when I first started to work with Luxemme, when I was in a pickle with what to wear to a pre-christmas night out recently I instantly thought about another classic co-ord from Luxemme as they look gorgeous and fit so well!

And that is how I ended up with the Orva Bralet and Midi Skirt in a beautiful burgundy leather 🙂

I ordered this with days to spare but luckily for me the parcel came next day for a reasonable price, and once again packaged beautifully and personally which is such a nice touch, especially in comparison to the larger online retailers!

As I am sure I have mentioned before I am pretty short (well maybe that is an understatement, I’m tiny!) at barely 5ft so ordering a midi skirt can be a bit of a risk, but amazingly the length of this skirt was perfect. I ordered a size 10 and was pretty impressed. With a figure verging on the side of curvy (thankyou boobs and hips for the constant sartorial challenge) sometimes finding things to fit, especially tops and bottoms in the same size, can be a challenge, but I was reassured by the fit of my last outfit from here that this would work! I was pretty right. The skirt fit perfectly, hugging in all the right places, making it look like I had a tiny waist, smooth silhouette and potentially even abs (?!) and was a definite choice, however the top was a little more snug and although gorgeous and totally passable, I just didn’t think I would feel comfortable in it all night, so I ended up swapping for an ever faithful black crop top from Missguided which was teamed off with killer nude heels.

_20160117_204445

For both pieces it was only £39 which is a bargain for an outfit which is super versatile! Teaming this skirt with smaller heels, t-shirt and a blazer would look just as effective as a full on co-ord so you really can get value for money and a very well made outfit too!

Exactly as last time I think that this was a perfect purchase and completely saved me at the eleventh hour when I really had nothing else to wear! Definitely check Luxemme out if you havent already as their range is constantly adapting and expanding 🙂 I already have my eye on a gorgeous trouser two piece!

And now for the really good stuff! Don’t forget you can get a discount off at Luxemme by going here and using code LIFESTYLE4L to get 10% off (and even better if you head over now you are just in time for their new stock!) 🙂

November clothing haul! Primark, New Look and Boohoo…

Hey everyone, it’s me again and this time I am back with a haul post!

I wish I had enough time to shoot and edit videos but I just don’t at the moment, although I’m hoping to have more free time towards the end of next year to do some as I think hauls are always much more effective on video!

Anyway, over the past few weeks I have set out to spend the vouchers I received for my birthday and have managed to get some lovely stuff and still have some money left over to spend so of course when I have more goodies I will share those with you too!

Before I jump straight into telling you all about the products I bought and the looks I plan on putting together with them, look at the amazing transformation I have made of my office! They say that a peaceful environment makes for a peaceful mind, so I set about making the office the perfect Lifestyle for Less HQ; I set up my lighting system, huge mirror for the perfect outfit selfies and also an amazing new clothes rack so I can finally get organized enough to update you on all the fab new clothes I buy as well as getting my weekly outfits organized too! Let me know if you want me to do a blog post about my office set up and where I got anything from 😀

IMG_3095

Anyway, on to the products I have purchased recently…

Primark:

Burgundy Midi Dress – I have to admit when I first saw this on the hanger I wasn’t completely sold on it! I hate trying things on in stores and would much rather try it on at home and return it if needed, but with this dress I felt it was too risky not to try, but trust me when I say I am glad I did! It is extremely fitted which always gives me palpitations as (as you all know) I am trying to lose weight and tone up a little bit, however amazingly this dress seems to hang in all the right places and gave the illusion of a figure much better than I actually have!

IMG_3053

Fashionista facts:

  • The dress is amazingly comfortable
  • Nice thick material without being too heavy
  • Smart enough for work with heels on
  • Can be dressed down with white trainers beautifully too
  • Horizontal stripes don’t make you look wider, they actually are very flattering
  • Hangs really well in all the right places
  • Well made with gorgeous detailing
  • Super affordable (I think this was only £12 and comes in other colours which I’m deffo going to have to go back and get!)

Chunky Grey Cardigan – So this was on my list of items I needed to get for winter! I love a cosy sweater or cardigan and I feel they make literally any outfit winter ready, so I had to get some more of these and this grey thick knit cardigan completely fit the bill!

IMG_3078

Fashionista facts:

  • Really good length
  • Not too heavy and is perfect to wear all day
  • Good neutral colour to go with every outfit
  • Chunky knit
  • £10 which is a great price for such a well made piece

Sparkly cropped top – I always see tops in this cut on people and think they look so flattering, but I have always been a bit scared to buy one, mostly because it’s hard to find a bra to wear with them! However I have recently found an amazing strapless bra (from Primark) so decided to give this a go. I actually originally bought this in a size 12 as I thought it may be too tight otherwise, however I took it back and got a size 8 instead as it is cut on the big size. I feel like this is going to be a perfect xmas addition thanks to it’s added sparkle!

IMG_3089 IMG_3090

Fashionista facts:

  • Easy to wear
  • Thin material
  • Long crop and thin straps (make sure you have a good bra for this!)
  • Not too tight
  • Cut slightly big so size down on this!
  • Bargain at £6

Shoes – Yes I bought two more pairs of heels! I felt like I owed it to myself to get some slightly lower heels to ease my foot back in after injuring it (although even low heels are still hurting it)! One of them are going to be worn to death most days with literally every outfit imaginable and the other pair I cannot wait to wear and were a slightly impulsive purchase but I’m like a magpie and couldn’t resist the sparkle. Also they look way more expensive than Primark shoes…

IMG_3049 IMG_3094

Fashionista facts:

  • The black pair do rub slightly on the little toe due to the curve of the point
  • Look very sleek especially with jeans (both pairs)
  • Comfortable for all day wear
  • Great sizing
  • Only between £10-£14!

New Look:

Black suede a-line skirt: This is one of my favourite styles of skirt as they are so easily wearable! I would buy one of these in every single colour and pattern given half the chance, however I thought a black one would be most sensible to go with the several others I already have in much bolder colours! I actually got this in a size 10 and took the tag off before trying it on, but it is probably a tiny bit too big, so I would recommend either trying on in store or sizing down!

IMG_3087

Fashionista facts:

  • Gorgeous soft material
  • Buttons up at the front
  • Great length
  • Slightly big fit around the waist
  • Has great sized pockets!!

Loose casual tops: I dont really know how much there is to say about these other than they are immeasurably useful, come in an array of colours of which I picked only two and go with everything!

IMG_3073 IMG_3080

Fashionista facts:

  • Great material
  • Super slouchy but also look great tucked in with tailored pieces
  • Loads of different colours
  • Only £7.99
  • I went up 2 sizes to get the slouchiest fit!

Boohoo:

Gold Bomber Jacket: This is actually from the Charli XCX collection at Boohoo which I can no longer find on their website so it may have sold out, but I loved this! A cute cropped bomber jacket which is far dressier than the standard greens which bombers normally come in! Smitten from the second I saw this and wasn’t disappointed in person either 🙂

IMG_3067

Fashionista facts:

  • Limited edition
  • Great for day or night
  • Easy to dress up or wear in the daytime
  • Surprisingly warm
  • Some of the glitter does transfer 😦

Velvet Mini Skirt: I had to get a second opinion on this skirt from my girls, but they said they all loved it so I quickly snapped it up ready for xmas part season. The velvet makes it feel really festive 🙂 I’m also a tiny bit obsessed with all skirts with a slit in the leg as I feel they add a level of expensive looking detail as well as serving a slimming purpose!

IMG_3084

Fashionista facts:

  • Fits so well
  • Really high waisted
  • Slit isnt too high and is actually relatively modest
  • Perfect for xmas parties
  • Would look great with heels or above the knee boots
  • Only £8 which is a bargain for night out clothes

I’ve also ordered a very cute looking leather mini skirt and some beautiful thigh high boots from ebay which are on their way at the moment, as well as my very first Nars foundation which is also on it’s way! As soon as they have arrived I will update you on what they look like 🙂

Anyway I hope you enjoyed this post and found it useful. Let me know what your favourite items and looks are in the comments below 🙂 Don’t forget to follow me on Instagram as well to keep track of my day to day looks which I am sure will be featuring these items very soon!

Dress wishlist – Autumn/Winter 2015

Hey everyone,

So today I thought I would do a little Autumn wishlist of all the dresses I’m loving at the moment. I’ve been doing a lot of online shopping recently to try to find the perfect birthday outfit, so lots of these are probably quite dressy, but the incorporate some of my favourite trends from this A/W for all your dress needs 🙂

From amazing knit and shirt dresses which look perfect with over the knee boots and big jackets to suede bodycon numbers, I hope there is something for everyone here even if it is just a small snapshot of my favourites!

Spring/Summer Fashion Updates – Sale shopping list

So you may remember that a few months back I talked you through my 4 top picks for spring (and summer) 2015, which you can read here if you haven’t already ! Well the stores are now having their sales and autumn stock is fast approaching, but that doesn’t mean it’s too late for your fave spring/summer looks, especially if you still have holidays booked like I have!

So because all the sales are now on (yay!) I thought I would recap some of the items I have picked up over the past few months, give you some ideas of how to wear them and link through to some fab pieces that you are going to want to snap up before they are gone 🙂

Seventies:

So the first look I talked about was the seventies vibe and I can tell you this is something I am only too happy to embrace fully!

My wardrobe is now full of seventies inspired pieces from flared jeans to flower crowns and I don’t know how I ever got through spring or summer without them! Needless to say I will be bringing most of these items back year after year because they match my personality so well!

Anyway, here are some of the items I bought:

Flared jeans – Next

Flower crown – Primark

IMG_2660

Smock Dress – Primark

Hat – Tesco

IMG-20150524-WA0008

Black palazzo – Tesco

IMG_20150525_095327

Camel and suede:

Camel proved to be a little bit harder for me to pull off! My colouring is pretty fair so doing camel colour in a large go really doesn’t match my tones, however I found ways to make it work!

If you do have darker skin and hair, camel works well for you, so definitely look for longline camel coloured coats or even a skater dress/pinafore for a truly standout style

For me I picked up a couple of camel coloured suede items as these looked the best/highest quality but still for good prices, which is why I have combined these two 🙂

Camel skirt – Primark or Tu at Sainsburys

Camel shorts – H&M

shorts

Suede Camel Dress – New Look

Fringing:

I didn’t actually buy anything new which had fringing on it as I already owned a good amount, but the easiest way to do this is with an accessory! If you are feeling brave Primark have an amazing black fringed skirt which has such beautiful movement to it and is a real statement piece, however I couldn’t justify purchasing it as I wasn’t sure what to wear it with!

Here are items I would recommend you take a look out for in the sales:

Fringed handbag – Tesco

bag

Fringed kimono – Boohoo

Fringed dress – Asos

So I hope this recap helped and gave you some ideas of where to go to pick up some items last minute! Don’t forget as well that loads of these pieces are definitely worth the investment as will be easily re-wearable/seasonally interchangeable (I will do a summer clothes for winter post in due course!) so don’t feel bad about spending your hard earned pennies on items like this so late in the season 🙂

Let me know what your favourite items of clothing have been this spring/summer in the comments below!

Summer holiday style

I’m back! I have missed you all whilst I have been away but I had the most amazing time in Lanzarote with friends and family 🙂 It was a much needed break, but I am very glad to be back and I can assure you that I thought about you all and my blog so much whilst I was away, which is why I have decided to do a post all about my summer holiday style 🙂

I should probably start off by saying Primark and New Look were my two key contributors to my holiday wardrobe! They did a massive range of summer clothes at fantastic prices, so any new stuff I got mostly came from these two stores. If you are about to jet off and you are looking for clothes, check them out (and quickly as the new stock is coming in for pre-autumn already!)

So what outfits and pieces am I suggesting for the summer sun?

For me it’s all about light clothing with brilliant patterns and colours – fitting the sunny background of your destination and making your suitcase a bit lighter! I picked up a few Bardot style patterned bodycon dresses from Primark for £5 each and they were perfect to dress up in the evening.

For the day time I recommend high waisted shorts and vests or camis which look stylish, keep you cool and are easy to wear! I would definitely suggest steering clear of the shorts which are too short though as these don’t look chic!

Maxi dresses and jumpsuits are also staples for evening wear so make sure you have a few of these packed! They often come in jersey  materials making them lightweight to pack and wear and patterns on jumpsuits and maxi dresses are often bold, perfect for summer!

And obviously essential are accessories and swimsuits: kaftans, block wedges, flower crowns and body chains all add to your summery look and really change an outfit from day to night! I’m a huge fan of my flower crown from Primark! And check out New Looks mix and match swimsuit collection – they have so many different colours and designs and are really affordable 🙂

So I hope this helped you get your summer suitcase ready if it wasn’t already 🙂 Let me know what looks you are loving at the moment in the comments below and make sure you follow, like and share here and on Twitter and Instagram!

Lots of love, Leanne xx
