Hair Transformation!

Hey everyone, I’m writing again and for more than once in a month! This really shouldn’t be something to celebrate, but you have to celebrate all the small successes right?!

I thought it was about time to share my hair journey. This year I feel like I’ve been all the colours imaginable! You can see them all on my Instagram! From black, to green to pink and eventhough some of them haven’t been exactly what I’ve anticipated, I’ve loved having them all. As well as colours, I’ve gone from the longest hair I’ve had in years to the big cut and I have to say the short hair is a firm fave of mine now 🙂

It’s fair to say the pics above the colours are all fairly light and I think this is my preference. I’ve had dark hair a few times and I’m not really sure if it suits me, plus I love the light hair and dark eyebrows combo too! However, I’m open minded and just want to try looks that are different, so now I’m trying to decide what the next step is in my hair journey.

And these are the most recent hair colours! I’m loving the current grey/white/blue vibes 🙂 I’ve wanted this colour for ages, especially after getting into iZombie and the hair colour in that series. I cannot do a blog post though without shouting out the best hairdresser I’ve ever had. I’m lucky enough to call Louisa one of my best friends too and hopefully she enjoys messing around with my hair as much as I enjoy being guinea pig 🙂 Make sure you go and follow her as well – her pics are so beautiful and I want everything she posts!

But what next? I was thinking yellow, orange kinda takes my fancy and blue does too! Or should I go darker for winter? Or get extensions?

Help me decide! Comment below what you think would look good and be fun to try – I’m open to most things (as you can tell) and would love to get your input 🙂

Review: Makeup Revolution Golden Sugar Ultra Blush Palette

Hey everyone, it’s been a while since I have done any posts, let alone a review but instead of doing a review of something new I thought I would actually do a review of something I have owned for quite a while and that gets used daily by me! Apologies for the absence, I feel like I’m only just starting to formulate some kind of routine after starting my new job. I’m really having to make time to write and get online to post/edit so will be posting again but only once a week until I am completely settled 🙂 I’m trying though, honest!

It’s my blush palette from Makeup Revolution at Superdrug which I bought when the Makeup Revolution collection dropped at Superdrug and is still going strong. Obviously after such vigorous use I feel I’m pretty well equipped to review on it so I hope you enjoy reading this one as much as I love the product 🙂

So this product has 8 shades all for the price of £6! All have a lovely finish and vary from very lightly pigmented and sparkly to heavily pigmented which is ideal for the look you are going for. All are metal toned shades with hints of gold and silver. I find there are shades there for a more subtle bronzer, a super pumped up highlighter as well as a blush shade too so it really is multi-purpose and can be used day to night 🙂

The palette (sans lid as I lost it) and the brush I use to apply my highlighter

If you don’t believe how much I have used this product check out the picture below which shows just how much I love the highlighter, how messy the palette has become with daily use and the fact that I lost the lid for the palette a while ago too 😦

My favourite of this collection is definitely the silver highlighter which although it looks really garish when blended can look really natural and is easily buildable. Second favourite is definitely the shimmery pink/purple blush!

Darkest shade at bottom with highlighters on top (nearest wrist) Have lost the top of this palette so cannot remember their names, soz!

If you are unsure what palette to go for and want max versatility I would definitely go for this one, it is by far the best choice of shades of all the blush palettes I have from Makeup Revolution and for £6 how can you go wrong?

Me with the highlighter and blush on. Giving a really natural sheen and cheek colour perfect for the day 🙂

So the key question would I buy it again and what is my rating? This gets 8 out of 10 for me and definitely will be repurchased if this palette ever runs out 🙂

What are your favourite palettes and highlighters? I would love to know so comment them below!

Appearance Anxiety

Hey everyone, it’s time again for another blog post (I must admit I’m feeling pretty proud of myself for fitting two posts in this week for the first time in ages!) and this time I thought I would write about something which I’m actually fairly ashamed to say is on my mind most of the time!

Needless to say, following my holiday and a wisdom tooth extraction I feel like I’ve put on a few pounds and gained back inches which I worked so hard to lose in the first place. As much as it is frustrating I also feel like it is a huge knock to my body confidence which I was working so hard to build.

Even more frustrating though is that I feel like it is something I think about all the time. Whether it is worrying about whether an outfit I am wearing is flattering, to comparing myself to other girls, I feel that I am holding myself to potentially unobtainable standards, which cannot be good for anyone!

So basically this post is here to lay it all on the line and let you all know that despite the bubbly and outgoing exterior and multiple post on my social media channels detailing every aspect of my life, particularly how I look, I am extremely self-conscious. I always have been and assume that I always will be. But life is too short to worry about it all the time so I am going to make a very real effort to not worry and to embrace my appearance. So what if my arms aren’t as thin as other peoples or if my tummy isn’t as flat, there are a million other things which I have going for me and I should value myself higher than that.

It’s hard though, living in a world of photoshopped images which aren’t clearly labelled and “standard sizes” in stores often being size 6! It’s a constant barrage of noise telling you that you should look different (better?) than you do currently. And if it is affecting me, a pretty together twenty something, then what on earth is it doing to the teens of today who see “perfect” bodies everywhere. Yes there is the #curvee revolution, but is that really an attainable and healthy ideal? What I want is more diversity, in the campaigns we see from fashion retailers. I want to see a group of women which represent me and my friends in the clothes they are selling.

If this is the scale of difference that can be achieved with photoshop how are we supposed to be body confident?

If this is the scale of difference that can be achieved with photoshop how are we supposed to be body confident?

Phew…rant over! I really just wanted to give you a snapshot of how I feel on a “fat day” and the constant worries that I have every time I pick out an outfit! As much as it sounds pretty bad, I wanted to let all of you out there know that you are not the only one feeling that way, so please don’t worry or feel down, and instead of seeing all the negatives and focussing your attentions solely on them, look for the positives instead!

For me, I’m going to continue to go to the gym and eat healthily purely because it makes me feel healthy and energetic and if a by-product of this healthier lifestyle is losing a couple of pounds and inches then good!

A "perfect" body?

A “perfect” body?

Me on my last holiday

I’m going to make sure to include how I am feeling in my future fitness and nutrition posts to stick to my plan for more confidence and less concern!

I hope you found this post helpful! I’d love to know if you have similar thoughts or feelings and if so what you do to get over them! Please let me know in the comments as I always love to hear from you 🙂 As always please like, share, comment and subscribe and stay tuned for the next post!
