Fashion feature: Embroidery

It’s been a while since I’ve written a fashion post and I’m loving being able to do this again. I see items and trends all the time that I love but then just never make time to write about them, but today I am making sure that I do.

And the trend we are focusing on today is the embroidery trend. It’s been around for a while, but seems to be getting bigger and better and is definitely the hot trend for Spring/Summer. From casual to evening and everything in between, there are pieces to suit every occasion and every body type and I want to go through some of my top embroidered picks from New Look.

Embroidered Boots – with a low heel and a flattering cut above the ankle these boots are both stylish and practical. They can be worn by any body shape and would dress up any outfit in a flash. A sensible addition to any wardrobe and a bargain at under £35!

Embroidered Skirt – Perfect for the transition from Winter to Spring, team with tights and above the knee boots for a dressed up but comfortable look. Even ideal for work!

Embroidered T-shirt – Not sure how to dress up the comfiest of all your outfits, jeans and a tee? A statement slouchy cut-out tee with some embroidered features, is the perfect way to keep you looking stylish and effortlessly cool and a bargain at under £10.

Embroidered Dress – Looking for an update to the classic LBD? Add embroidery of course! Combined with the mesh trend, this is a stunning yet simple addition to your wardrobe and can be dressed up with metallic heels and accessories or dressed down with tights and boots.

Embroidered Jeans –  Another twist on the comfy outfit is the embroidered jeans. Wear with a plain slouchy t-shirt or a vest and your favourite skinny jeans are automatically updated ready for all seasons and occasions.

Embroidered Jacket – Everyone should have a leather jacket in their wardrobe, but sometimes they can seem too harsh. Make it more feminine by picking up a leather jacket with embroidery to help make you stand out from the crowd.

Top tips though: remember not to combine your embroidered items. It may be tempting to wear your jeans, boots, tee and jacket together, but that would be overkill! Stick with one piece and make that your centrepiece.

Make sure to like, comment, share and subscribe! Please leave links or pics of your favourite embroidered items in the comments below 🙂

Lots of love, Leanne

Workout Wear

So as well as not finding the time to write blog posts for you all, I also haven’t been finding the time to eat right or exercise and it’s left me feeling really self conscious and uncomfortable. I’m not afraid to share that I currently weigh more than I would like and have lost all tone due to not working out, but it’s not going to put me off. Sometimes when you feel this way it’s easy to get into a bad cycle of not wanting to do anything about it, but I am going to go the other way. It’s spurred me on to nip it in the bud and change my routines to make sure I’m making time for my health and happiness. And after signing up to charity row for Cancer Research next May, I’m going to need to be the fittest I’ve ever been! No time like the present after all…

One way that I motivate myself to go to the gym is to pick a super cute workout outfit. I’m a big fan of patterned leggings as they add some fun to what could otherwise be a very functional outfit. And I think they are flattering for all body types too! I have pretty muscly legs from years and years of gymnastics and yet I love the way they show off the good bits and hide the bad all whilst showing off my personality 🙂

I would always say that if you are going tight with the bottoms though,  that a loose top works best (which is also great for covering my tummy which I’m not such a big fan of) so I usually pick either a plain black tee of if I’m wearing plainer bottoms, then a nice bright colour again to match my personality and motivate me to train harder (although some days I do love a good monochrome outfit like the one below, which looks good to be dressed up if you have to pop into town first!)

Take a look at some of the outfits I love best that I already own, as well as some inspiration  and soon to be additions to my wardrobe from Adore Me’s new workout range! Adore Me’s new workout range! I mean how cute is the promo shot!!!

And when I get home from a workout, there is nothing I love better than a snuggly autumn outfit! Autumnal clothes can be oversized and sometimes shapeless, but that is no need to feel frumpy. A cute choker necklace, statement shoes and a bold lip always help bring a femininity back to an oversize outfit and cute undies also help to help put a feminine spring back in your step!

Stay tuned to find out how I style myself when I want to be comfy and cute in Autumn very soon!

Review: Orva Co-Ord from Luxemme

Hey everyone, I’m sorry that I am only getting to post once a week at the moment but I promise that I am trying to up it again!

Today I wanted to write about a new and emerging brand I was so lucky to work with in 2015, and which was my first ever blog collaboration! Luckily for me, I’ve been continuing to work with them to promote their brand and because of this was also lucky enough to be sent some of their amazing vouchers (which I will also be giving away on my Instagram keep reading to find out more!)

Now after my amazing co-ord which I was sent back when I first started to work with Luxemme, when I was in a pickle with what to wear to a pre-christmas night out recently I instantly thought about another classic co-ord from Luxemme as they look gorgeous and fit so well!

And that is how I ended up with the Orva Bralet and Midi Skirt in a beautiful burgundy leather 🙂

I ordered this with days to spare but luckily for me the parcel came next day for a reasonable price, and once again packaged beautifully and personally which is such a nice touch, especially in comparison to the larger online retailers!

As I am sure I have mentioned before I am pretty short (well maybe that is an understatement, I’m tiny!) at barely 5ft so ordering a midi skirt can be a bit of a risk, but amazingly the length of this skirt was perfect. I ordered a size 10 and was pretty impressed. With a figure verging on the side of curvy (thankyou boobs and hips for the constant sartorial challenge) sometimes finding things to fit, especially tops and bottoms in the same size, can be a challenge, but I was reassured by the fit of my last outfit from here that this would work! I was pretty right. The skirt fit perfectly, hugging in all the right places, making it look like I had a tiny waist, smooth silhouette and potentially even abs (?!) and was a definite choice, however the top was a little more snug and although gorgeous and totally passable, I just didn’t think I would feel comfortable in it all night, so I ended up swapping for an ever faithful black crop top from Missguided which was teamed off with killer nude heels.

For both pieces it was only £39 which is a bargain for an outfit which is super versatile! Teaming this skirt with smaller heels, t-shirt and a blazer would look just as effective as a full on co-ord so you really can get value for money and a very well made outfit too!

Exactly as last time I think that this was a perfect purchase and completely saved me at the eleventh hour when I really had nothing else to wear! Definitely check Luxemme out if you havent already as their range is constantly adapting and expanding 🙂 I already have my eye on a gorgeous trouser two piece!

And now for the really good stuff! Don’t forget you can get a discount off at Luxemme by going here and using code LIFESTYLE4L to get 10% off (and even better if you head over now you are just in time for their new stock!) 🙂

Mirina Collections Review & Exclusive Discount Code!

Hey everyone, me again! I’m slowly trying to get back into the habit of posting twice a week. Getting back into good habits is hard work and not just blogging either, I’m talking about healthy eating, going to the gym and even simple things like picking out my outfits for the week ahead.

Picking outfits though does lead me on very nicely to my topic for today’s post. I’m the worst at remembering to accessorize my outfits when I pick them quickly on the day, preferring to have picked an outfit from top to toe ahead of schedule, accessories and all (as I write this I have shoes which don’t match my outfit on as well as no jewellery!) 🙂 Those of you who follow me on Instagram or are friends with me on Facebook will have already seen my recent announcement about my brand new and exciting blog collaboration with Mirina Collections who produce the most amazing statement jewellery!

I was so excited to become a Mirina Girl, as their products are amazing, but I was nervous too as their brand ambassadors are all so amazing that I was genuinely wondering how on earth I would be able to measure up, but after giving myself a little pep talk I decided that actually I needed to just enjoy the experience full on.

If you are following lots of fashion and beauty bloggers on Instagram and Twitter like I am you will more than likely have heard of this brand or seen some of their necklaces, however, being an American based company means I had never actually seen one of their pieces in real life or knew anyone who owned one of their products.

I was lucky enough to get my hands on the Pretty Girl Necklace (although trying to pick one out of their collection was so tough! I ended up getting my group of best friends to help me whittle down my shortlist in the end) and felt like Christmas had come all over again when it finally arrived.

I do have to say that this necklace did take ages to arrive! I placed my order in Mid November and it arrived just after Christmas, but it is all for good reason and was made very clear to me up front. All of the necklaces are handmade, so the delay is down to both craft time as well as shipping time from America. Craft takes 2-3 weeks and shipping obviously can be pretty long and to be honest, it’s quite a nice change ordering something and almost forgetting about it’s arrival when you get home and have a package waiting with such a lovely goodie inside 🙂

When I ordered my necklace I received fantastic email service confirming my order and letting me know when my package had been shipped and when it arrived, it was beautifully packaged which is a love of mine.

The best part about this product? Writing  a review is easy as it basically speaks for itself. The Pretty Girl necklace literally transforms any outfit, for example, when mine arrived, I was wearing a plain long sleeve top and jeans and it even went with that outfit, turning it from drab to fab – definitely passable for a girly lunch! It’s a huge piece, but really doesn’t weigh anywhere near as much as you might think and although it is large, it’s muted tones and simple embellishment make it acceptable to wear both in the day time or to completely finish an evening outfit.

  • High quality product
  • Really eyecatching product
  • Easy to wear for both day or night
  • Really well made
  • Beautiful
  • Not too heavy
  • Great packaging and email service

  • Long shipping and manufacture time (totally worth the wait though)
  • Relatively expensive (but makes a great investment piece!)
  • So many amazing products it’s hard to pick just one (although really not a con at all)

Traditionally I would always rate products 1-5 at the end of my reviews but this year I’m changing it up so there is more variation to the scores I give, and for the Pretty Girl necklace I am awarding an 8.5 out of 10!

I would absolutely recommend Mirina Collections to my friends and am already eyeing up my next purchase from them but had to mark down for the product lead time, eventhough I totally get why it took so long.

And if you have been reading this and viewing the pictures wondering how you can get your hands on one of their pieces too, just head to, browse their products and if you order now, you can benefit from an exclusive 20% discount as one of my readers by using the code leanne20xo 🙂

Don’t forget to follow me on Instagram, Facebook, Twitter and Snapchat (username lifestyle4less) for more daily updates on how I wear this product as well as many others, and make sure you let me know what you think of this review and this beautiful necklace by liking, sharing and by leaving comments below.

New Year, New Me…. Or not!

Merry Christmas and a happy new year to all my lovely readers 🙂 I hope your holidays were filled with fun, friends and family as mine were!

But now all the celebrating is almost completely finished everyone is thinking about the year ahead and what it is likely to hold for them. I on the other hand am not thinking quite the same. Don’t get me wrong, I totally understand why people choose January to make commitments and massive life changes, however for me it just doesn’t work. I’m a great believer in starting as you mean to go on, but promising that I won’t eat any unprocessed foods, will go to the gym every day, lose a stone in weight, travel more and take a makeup course realistically just isn’t going to happen, and besides I don’t want to be a new me! I quite like the me I am at the moment. So what do I hope 2016 will hold for me?

The list above are all things I would love to be able to achieve, but more than anything I want to see my career and my blog go from strength to strength this year, so I’m hoping for more successful collaborations, new followers and for continuing to love what I do both in and out of work.

Obviously taking a make up course, seeing more of the world and losing a bit of weight and toning up are also on my list, but I’m not going to commit to anything major now as who knows what next year will hold. Just looking back at last year I was making really good progress with my weight loss and fitness and then I fractured my foot which significantly set me back so I’m not going to make a statement which ultimately I cant achieve.

Instead of looking for all the things I want to change though, I am just going to be thankful for all I have achieved in 2015 (gaining readers on my blog, my first brand collaborations etc) as well as all I have including my amazing friends, family and good times and memories I made and wish that I can have all of this again in 2016.

Regardless of the fact I’m not setting resolutions, I hope whatever your goals are for 2016 you achieve them all and more! Don’t forget to share them in the comments below so we can work together to keep you on track to achieving them 🙂

Lots of love, Leanne xx

I am so sorry! I know I have said this a few times but my life has been so crazy recently 😦

Anyone who knows me will tell you I am a bit of a scatterbrain at the moment as now is one of those times where everything comes at once and piles up and keeps you very very busy.

In these times you can sink or swim and I think I am swimming – however to do that you sometimes have to let some stuff drop for a while and unfortunately that has meant the blog has had to take a back seat whilst I get stuff sorted at work and at home.

However, I feel like I am moving forward now, hopefully to a slightly less busy place so please stay tuned for an amazing array of posts including reviews, hairstyles I will be trying, my fitness and weightloss updates and hopefully some more fashion stuff as I am loving this at the moment!

Please stick with me – I really do care about this blog more than anything!

Lots of love, Leanne xx

My 4 top picks for Spring 2015!

Hey everyone!

So the sun is shining today to really end the long weekend on a high and it got me thinking! We are now officially out of Winter and the shops are all starting to stock their Spring/Summer clothes so I thought I would share with you some of my top picks for items and trends to watch out for this season 🙂

Please remember (just a little disclaimer before I start) that I am by no means a fashion expert, but these are all things I will be wearing over the next few months. I don’t really have a distinct style, I just pick what I like and go with the flow, so if you disagree that’s fine, but hopefully you enjoy the items I’m feeling!

The seventies are back yay! I am a huge fan of older fashion anything from 50’s-70’s are my favourite, because the cuts and prints are so much more exciting that a lot of what we see today and this season so much of that is inspired by the seventies. Lots of florals, flared trousers, waistcoats and fringing galore! Some of my favourite picks include:

Camel has been a huge colour throughout winter and that doesn’t appear to be stopping any time soon, so it’s time to pick up a few items in camel to fulfil your colour crush! Some of the favourite ones I have seen are:

Often suede can make you think of horrible items of clothing or for some reason it always makes me think of corduroys, however suede is in at the moment in a big way! I’ve already purchased a pair of suede shorts (in camel of course!) ready for the spring and summer from H&M and I am sure I will be adding more! If the idea of wearing suede scares you, why not try suede accents through your accessories, such as ankle boots or bags! Here are my faves:

Not a style I’ve ever been a huge fan of as I think it can often look a bit costumey, however this season I have seen so many lovely pieces with really subtle fringing to meet the trend which I am definitely tempted to try! Here are my faves:

So there are my 4 top picks for trends for Spring/Summer 2015! I hope you enjoyed it and that it gave you inspiration and if you like any of the items shows above they are all from either Missguided, Boohoo, Asos, H&M or Pretty Little Thing 🙂 Let me know what your fave trends are at the moment in the comments below!

Lots of love, Leanne xx
